Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Structural Biology

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the group of Prof. Omer Dushek and Prof. van der Merwe.

The project aims to elucidate how T cells discriminate peptide antigens and involves using molecular and cellular experiments with primary T cells and T cell lines to understand the underlying mechanisms.

The post-holder will be responsible for managing own academic research and contributing conceptually to the projects. You will work with limited supervision to identify, develop, modify and apply the necessary techniques to achieve the goals of the project. The research will be conducted in a friendly and supportive atmosphere with access to outstanding facilities and within a vibrant postdoc community.

The post-holder should hold, or be close to completion of, PhD/DPhil in Molecular Immunology, Structural Biology, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or Cell Biology. You should have experience in T cell culture and activation assays, experience in expressing, purifying, and/or labelling proteins as well as FRET and FRAP microscopy. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers and support staff. Enthusiasm to think creatively about fundamental immunological mechanisms is essential.

This is a fixed-term appointment available for 1 year. If you are interested in this role, and have the skills and experience we are looking for, please apply online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application

Informal inquiries about the position can be sent to Prof. Omer Dushek via email:  omer.dushek@path.ox.ac.uk
