Edward Hutchinson granted MRC Career Development Award

Edward Hutchinson from the Fodor group has been granted an MRC Career Development Award in the October 2015 funding round.

The award will support research into applying proteomics to the molecular biology of influenza viruses.

Ed’s proposal, developed in collaboration with Oxford’s Central Proteomics Facility, will investigate how variations in influenza virion composition alter infectivity, and how protein phosphorylation regulates the progress of an infection.

The award marks Ed’s transition from post-doctoral researcher to independent investigator and will see him move to the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research to pursue his research plans with his own team.

Ed is at the Dunn School a while longer, planning to move to Glasgow in February 2016.
