Matthew Freeman to chair EMBO council

Many congratulations to Prof Matthew Freeman, our Head of Department, for being elected to chair the council of EMBO.

Matthew FreemanEMBO is an organization of more than 1,900 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences in Europe and beyond. It supports talented researchers at all stages of their careers, publishes journals, organises and sponsors training and conferences, and aims to promote research excellence.

The Council is EMBO’s governing body, overseeing its management and responsible for ensuring its development.

“I’m honoured to have a chance to support the great team that run EMBO. Like so many scientists, EMBO has been part of my scientific life ever since I was a graduate student. It’s a force for good in European and world science, and represents a wonderful community of scientists at all career stages.”
