Ivan Ahel has been awarded a 2013 Future Leaders in Cancer Research Prize by Cancer Research UK.
The award is in recognition of his research into DNA damage, and for the quality of his biochemical work and publication record.
Cancer Research UK said: ‘Dr Ahel has demonstrated a remarkable ability as a leader in his research field and is considered a worthy winner of this Prize’.
Ivan’s group is utilising biochemical and cell-based assays to study mammalian DNA damage response pathways, to try to better understand the mechanisms underlying human disease and provide a basis for development of new therapies.
Ivan will recieve his award at the Cancer Research UK prize ceremony at the NCRI Cancer Conference on Monday 4 November.
