Green Group celebrates High Sheriff Award

The AWARD recognises efforts to embed sustainable environmental practices across the department

The Dunn School Green Group were joint winners of the High Sheriff’s Climate Action Heroes Awards, in the business/public sector category. The award was announced at a ceremony at the Oxford Trust’s Wood Centre for Innovation in Headington Quarry, Oxford on Monday 21 February.

Dunn School Green Group Chair, Saroj Saurya, said: Congratulations everyone!! This award is in recognition of the hard work of everyone: present and past members of the green group, all the Dunn School labs, PI’s, facilities, workshop, IT, stores, washing up and all the members of the Dunn School, University of Oxford sustainability team and Martin Farleys LEAF accreditation scheme. Without everyone’s help we could not have achieved what we have accomplished so far. Well done everyone. We are not stopping here!

The Green Group was established at the Dunn School of Pathology in March 2020. A voluntary group of environmental activists from across the department, it has catalysed environmental sustainability in a number of areas, including: reducing reliance on single-use lab plastics, promoting equipment energy savings, introducing lab glove recycling and food waste collections, and lobbying suppliers to improve their sustainability credentials.
