The Oxford-Stephen Cobbold Graduate Studentship, named in honour of Professor Stephen Cobbold, Emeritus Professor of Cellular Immunology, and the Waldmann Family Scholarship, have both been established thanks to the generosity of former Head of Department Professor Herman Waldmann, further supported by the EPA Research Fund, the EPA Cephalosporin Trust and the CIU Trust.  

The two scholarships will support PhD students in the Dunn School in perpetuity, with the first two students benefitting from these scholarships starting this academic year. 

“We are so grateful for the generosity of Herman Waldmann and the trusts who made these two scholarships possible. It is hard to think of a greater possible impact than supporting future biomedical research students at the Dunn School.” said Professor Matthew Freeman, Head of Department “We are very proud of our past achievements but even more excited by the future. As we approach our Centenary, I am confident that our students will continue to be the lifeblood of the department and the catalysts of our future discoveries.”
