Vaccine and drug development is underway at the Dunn School of Pathology in Oxford, UK as the war on the Coronavirus pandemic escalates.
The disease is affecting 193 countries and territories around the world, with 353,447 diagnosed cases and 15,415 deaths as of 23 March 2020 (Worldometer).
Research into the virus is being undertaken by five lab groups: James, Sattentau, Fodor, Sanyal and Ahel.
Head of Department Matthew Freeman said: “I’m incredibly proud of the scale up of COVID-19 research at the Dunn School and the dedication of our researchers who are working day, night and weekends to make advances.”
Members of the public are invited to join with government funding agencies, charitable trusts and philanthropists to fund the research efforts into a disease that analysts predict will infect half the global population (EIU).
