Dunn School celebrates Green Action Week 

The Dunn School Green Group ran a series of eco-friendly activities as part of the University of Oxford’s Green Action Week 19 – 23 February.

Events  showcased a collective commitment to sustainability within the department, university wide and across the local community.

Dunn School Green Group Chair and Raff lab, laboratory Manager, Saroj Saurya said:
“I extend my heartfelt thanks to all participants and sponsors. Your support was indispensable. The Dunn School is driven by its green ethos, and the passion and dedication witnessed during Green Action Week reinforces our hope that our collective efforts will catalyse broader environmental consciousness and tangible progress.”

Highlights included:

  • Sustainability Talks: Addressing plastic waste management in the science industry and the social and environmental implications of food waste.
  • Green Initiative Tours: Participants had the opportunity to explore the Dunn School’s sustainability initiatives, including projects in the Raff Lab, and the Community-Wide Food and Goods Rescue Initiative.
  • Activities in the Combination Room: Participants engaged in eco-conscious activities, including a clothes swap, a bake sale featuring items made by Dunn School members, and a plant and seed swap.
  • Bike Doctor Clinic: The clinic, sponsored by the University of Oxford’s sustainability team, took place in the department’s grounds providing free bike repairs to promote sustainable transportation
  • Green Group flag: The Dunn School workshop staff proudly installed the Green Group flag on the department’s flagpole.
  • Donation to Oxford Mutual Aid: The week concluded with a generous donation of proceeds to Oxford Mutual Aid, highlighting the connection between community support and environmental care.
