Over our 100-year history, the Dunn school has supported and trained thousands of students, whose talent, enthusiasm and work have fuelled world-changing scientific discoveries, and who have gone on to extraordinary future achievements.
To celebrate our centenary, we are launching a campaign for donations to establish the Centenary Scholarship Endowment. This will fund one or more graduate student scholarships in perpetuity. By giving to this campaign, you will enable us to fund outstanding students for generations to come. Our scholarships are aimed at ensuring that we can take as many students as possible, regardless of their economic circumstances.
Thanks to the generosity of the Edward Penley Abraham (EPA) Research Fund, the first £850,000 given to this endowment will be matched 2:1: every pound you give will be worth three to the campaign.

Prof Matthew Freeman, Head of Department, said on the launch of the campaign:
“In thinking about the potential legacy of our centenary, we realised that supporting our brilliant students, allowing as many as possible to benefit from the Dunn School’s research and training opportunities, would have the biggest impact – both on individuals and the Department as a whole. We turn away fantastic students every year simply because we do not have the funding to make it financially possible for them to accept our offer of a place. Supporting graduate studentships is investing in a future of the most valuable kind.
I am particularly grateful to the trustees of the EPA Research Fund for their offer to match all donations. Their generosity will dramatically accelerate the success of our campaign.
I do hope that friends and alumni of the Dunn School will recognise the huge value of this ambitious plan and feel able to make a donation of any size, ensuring that we can continue to support the best young talents from around the world.”
