The UK Young academy is a new interdisciplinary organisation established under the auspices of the Royal Society in partnership with 6 other senior national academies. It includes researchers, innovators and professionals who are passionate about making the world a better place and tackling the problems facing us locally and globally. Out of over 400 applicants, 67 members were selected from across the UK for having each made “significant contributions to their field, while going above and beyond to make an impact outside of their main areas of work”.
On her achievement, Cat Vicente said:
“When looking at the global challenges of our time, such as climate change or antimicrobial resistance, it is clear that no single discipline (or group of people) will be able to devise a solution alone. I am delighted to join a community of like-minded individuals from across the UK and make a positive impact together”.
