Maps and Directions to the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology

Travelling by Train

The National Rail website may be useful in planning your train journey to Oxford.

By foot (20 minutes) as follows: Turn left onto Botley Road, and carry straight on to Hythe Bridge Street. Where Hythe Bridge Street turns sharp left, carry straight on to George Street, and then along Broad Street. Go straight on onto Holywell Road, then after 100 yards turn left onto Mansfield Road. Walk to the end of Mansfield Road and turn right onto South Parks Road. Cross to the other side of the road at the pedestrian crossing, and carry on for around 50 yards until you reach the Dunn School on your left.

Otherwise, take a taxi from outside the station to The Sir William Dunn School of Pathology on South Parks Road. It is about a seven minute journey, depending on traffic. It should cost around £7. 

Travelling by bus from London

Frequent 24-hour direct services connect Oxford with London (peak times every 10-20 minutes).

The X90 service includes stops at Victoria Coach Station, Grosvenor Gardens, Marble Arch, Baker Street/Gloucester Place and Hillingdon (tel: +44 (0)1865 785410).

The Oxford Tube service includes stops at Grosvenor Gardens, Marble Arch, Notting Hill Gate, Shepherd's Bush, and Hillingdon (tel: +44 (0)1865 772250).

Coaches arrive at Gloucester Green Coach Station in the city centre.

Travelling by Car

Parking - there is only limited parking available at the Dunn School, but there are several places on Mansfield Road within short walking distance.

Arriving from the North, drive into Oxford along Banbury Road. Turn left at the traffic lights onto Parks Road. After 400 yards, turn left onto South Parks Road. The Dunn School is the last building on the left just before the South Parks Road turns sharp right to become St. Cross Road.

Arriving from the South, drive onto the High Street and cross Magdalen Bridge. Turn right at the first traffic lights onto Longwall Street and follow the road which becomes St. Cross Road. The Dunn School is on the right just after St. Cross Road turns sharp left to become South Parks Road.

Travelling from Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted Airports

London Heathrow and Gatwick airports are linked to Oxford by The Airline coach service, which operates a direct frequent service 24 hours a day (tel: +44 (0)1865 785400).

Buses leave Heathrow from the Central Bus Station (for Terminals 1, 2 and 3), or outside Terminal 5. Use the Underground to transfer from Terminal 4 to the Central Bus Station. Travel Time from Oxford (subject to traffic conditions) to Heathrow Terminal 5, 80 mins; and to Heathrow Central Bus Station, 90 mins. Trains (Heathrow Express, journey time, 15 minutes to Terminals 1, 2 and 3; Terminals 4 and 5, a further 5 minutes) runs regularly to Paddington Station from where trains leave London for Oxford (journey time, just over one hour, depending on the train).

Buses leave Gatwick from the North or the South Terminal. Travel time from Oxford (subject to traffic conditions) to Gatwick North Terminal 2 to 2.5 hours; and to Gatwick South Terminal, allow an additional 5 minutes.

London Stansted airport is linked to Oxford by the National Express 757 coach service, running every two hours (tel: +44 (0)8705 747777). The railway leaves for Londonfrom underneath the terminal building. For information about trains to Oxford, see Stansted Airport web site and National Rail.
