PhD student Laura Makin from the Gluenz group has won first prize in the poster competition at the Second UK Extracellular Vesicle (UKEV) forum meeting on 15 December at Cardiff University.
Laura’s poster “Are vesicles from the Leishmania flagellum a source of virulence factors” was selected from a strong field of entries from students and early career researchers at the one-day annual meeting.
The UKEV forum is a showcase for cutting edge national and international developments in extracellular vesicle research across a variety of contexts: from vesicle detection, function, pathology and therapeutics.
Laura is a student on the Wellcome Trust IITM programme. Her research focuses on the interactions between Leishmania parasites and macrophages.
