Members of the department have been busy fundraising for local charities during the festive season, whilst getting into the Christmas spirit.
The Lea Lab raised £1,464 for the Silver Star Society by running a raffle at this year’s Christmas party on Tuesday 16 December.
The raffle’s success was largely due to the array of top prizes – including an Apple iPhone 6 and Kindle Fire. Dunn School group leaders generously contributed to the prize fund.
Head of Department Matthew Freeman said: “Raising over a thousand pounds is a fantastic fundraising effort by the Lea lab and will help fund the vital work of the Silver Star unit at the John Radcliffe hospital in supporting pregnant mothers facing medical complications.’’
Members of the Gull lab and a mixed team of Dunn School ‘DUNNcers’ raised a combined total of £732 for Helen and Douglas House during the charity’s annual Santa Run in Oxford on Sunday 14 December.
DUNNcers team captain Stefanie Margraf said: ‘’It was only 3K so we thought we’d make it a bit more of a challenge by doing press ups and running backwards when we met out fundraising targets! We are delighted to have raised over £400.’’
The charity provides respite and end of life care for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions.
