Key book

The Dunn School key book dates back to 1927 when the building first opened. We believe it kept a record of who was given a key to the Dunn School (most likely one of the external gates). Those given a copy had to sign the key in and out, but you may be surprised how often a key was lost or damaged!

The key book contains signatures from the penicillin team (including Ernst Chain and Norman Heatley), Sir Peter Medawar (signed 1935), Sir Percival Hartley (signed 1948), Sir Paul Fildes (signed 1949) and Joan Gardner (signed 1946) among other notable individuals. The last entry in the book was in 1970.
