Building a Seoul connection – Korean student visits forges links with The Dunn School and Oxford

Learning about how university education is delivered at Oxford, improving English language skills and getting a feel for the research environment were the successful outcomes of a visit to Oxford and the Dunn School by students from Ewha Womans University in Korea in August 2017.

As part of the visit, aimed at catalysing a long standing and fruitful collaboration between the two universities, Professor William James delivered a seminar here at the Dunn School on Thursday 10 August.

Ewha alumna, and mastermind behind the initiative, Dr Sung Hee Kim, commented: “Students and the professors in the party said they learned a lot from Professor James especially about interactive and tutorial teaching methods. Ewha Womans University group looks forward to welcoming him in Seoul in the near future and to forging long lasting links between Oxford and Seoul.”

The group stayed at Exeter College and enjoyed a full schedule including:

  • A tour of Oxford University and colleges, and Blenheim Palace
  • Visit to UCB Pharmaceuticals in Slough, organised with the help of Prof Hagan Bayley
