Dunn School graduate student Agnieszka Kabat has been announced as a runner up in the Medical Sciences Division’s Peter Beaconsfield Prize 2014.
The prize is in recognition of research that bridges the gap between basic and clinical research.
Agnieszka’s award winning essay on inflammatory bowel disease sought to examine the causes of the condition and how it might be treated.
A representative of the award’s committee said: “the prize is intended to reward young researchers who are capable of escaping from the stereotype of narrow specialisation to engage with translational medicine, and display a wider grasp of the significance and potential applicability of their research.’’
Postgraduate students in Physiological Sciences who have applied for transfer to D.Phil. status during the last 12 months were eligible to apply.
Due to the strength of the 20 applications this year, the runner up prize was split in two bagging Agnieszka £250 in prize money.
Congratulations Agnieszka!
