Working here

The Dunn School is a friendly and collegiate place to work, and prides itself on the support it offers to people with families and caring responsibilities, while pursuing their careers. We try to foster an environment where everyone feels that they are helped at all stages of their careers, and where the additional pressures that come with family life can be mitigated by both an outstanding work environment and active support.

We have developed specific family friendly policies that include flexible working arrangements, holding Departmental events between 10am to 4pm, designating much of the non-lab space to be open to children, and encouragement of shared parental leave, as well as leave for carers and during adoption.

By supporting equality, valuing diversity, and maintaining a working and social environment in which the rights and dignity or all of our staff and students is respected, we encourage all members of the department to reach their full potential. Recognising the significance of all protected characteristics, we fully support everyone regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. Our Athena Swan committee and Anti-Bullying working group lead on these efforts but we also encourage input from everyone as we strive to make our working environment and community fully inclusive and fair.

We have compiled a factsheet about working at the Dunn School which will be helpful to people who are new to the Department.
