Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Cell Biology/Proteomics

This is a post for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant interested in the mechanisms of protein degradation and quality control to join Professor Pedro Carvalho’s group based at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford. 

The postholder will be responsible for carrying out research project and contribute conceptually to the overall research programme. You will work with limited supervision to identify, develop, modify and apply the necessary techniques to achieve the goals of the project. The postholder should be able to establish and optimise protocols, supervise and train junior staff in molecular biology/genetics as well as interpret and present the data for publication. You will also be responsible for overseeing the daily housekeeping of the laboratory and performing any other comparable duties as may be required to ensure the efficient running of the laboratory.

The postholder should hold PhD, or being close to completion, in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry or bioinformatics. You should be a well-trained, enthusiastic and self-motivated scientist with experience in quantitative cell proteomics, including all the steps involved from experimental design to sample preparation and data analysis. Previous excellent publication record, good organisational and communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team are essential.
