Dunn School awarded Athena SWAN Bronze award

The Dunn School of Pathology has been awarded the Athena SWAN Bronze award in the November 2013 awards round.  


Athena SWAN awards recognise and celebrate good practice in recruiting, retaining and promoting women’s careers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) in academia.


An awards ceremony to confer the bronze, silver and gold accolades to successful UK universities and departments, is being held at Durham University on Thursday 10 July.


Professor Susan Lea, Chair of the Dunn School’s Athena SWAN committee said:  ”The Bronze award is a first, but important, step acknowledging that in addition to implementing university-wide policies the department is actively working to promote gender equality and to address challenges particular to the Dunn School.’’


The Dunn School is rolling out an action plan strengthening HR policies, addressing reporting and monitoring challenges, and improving internal communications.
