We are carrying out the molecular dissection of expression of the genes for non-coding small nuclear (sn)RNAs that play major roles in fundamental cellular processes like mRNA splicing. These short, ubiquitously-expressed genes provide ideal model systems to investigate the control of transcription initiation/elongation and co-transcriptional RNA processing.
